At River West Church, there are three things that define who we are as a church:

• We want to make a difference in our world

These three statements are at the core of everything we do at River West Church. Blend them together and you get the mission of our church in one simple sentence.

Our mission is to always move forward by "building a community of Christ for the world.”

Community
Because we care so much about people, we build community. God created each of us to live in caring relationships with others. We want to push past the loneliness and fractured relationships that are so common in our imperfect world. We want to build authentic community: a group of people bound together through true faith in Christ, genuine love for one another, and a shared mission to the world.

Christ
The community we are building at River West Church is all about Jesus Christ. Jesus is the center. Our mission is to know, trust, and follow Jesus. This is why we spend so much time together in the Bible. That’s where we see the radical truth of who Jesus is, what He has done for us, and what He still promises to do in our lives. The Christ-centered message of the Gospel is the lens through which we need to look at all life and all of ministry. We want to “lift up Jesus” for all to see. When this happens our faith grows. Others come to faith in Christ too. Their lives are never the same. Our shared faith and experience of Christ are the foundation of our community.

World
Our community does not exist for itself. We are on a mission to the world for Jesus. Actually, it is not just “for” Jesus, it is “with” Jesus. Jesus Himself is at work in our world. His kingdom is breaking in, even in the darkest situations. As a community of Christ, we want to be the hands and feet of Jesus in our broken world. We want to do His work, in big and small ways.
